As a part of our commitment to our community, Visual Crossing is pleased to offer free access to our data and APIs for qualifying nonprofit organizations. If you work with or know of a nonprofit in need of weather data or a weather API, please let us know and we will work with you to find the best plan.
Our weather data can be used in many applications ranging from internal data science and analysis projects all the way to public web site and app development that needs a source of historical weather or weather forecast data.
How to apply for nonprofit licensing
Please first sign up for Visual Crossing Weather Data using an email from the nonprofit organization, if one exists. Once you have signed up, please contact us using that same email address and describe how you will be using the data. Tell us a bit about your project and what results you expect to achieve with your. It doesn’t have to be more than a couple of paragraphs, but please make sure that it is something that we can post on our website.
Are there any restrictions to the use of the data?
The use of our weather data is covered under our standard License Terms. Aside from a strict commercial use restriction, we do not restrict the use of the data for nonprofit purposes outside of the normal plan restrictions. You will have full access to the historical weather data, weather forecast data, and data download and weather API.
Data acquired under a nonprofit license cannot be used for commercial purposes. In exchange for this free access to our data service, we ask that you place a link to Visual Crossing somewhere on your website indicating that you use our data in your work. This helps other organizations find our service and helps them know that we are willing to work with them also. If you have questions about how and where to place an attribution link, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to help. See How to I properly cite or attribute the weather data in my project? for more information.
Need data for an academic project?
We also work with academic and research projects. If you are interested in obtaining weather data for such a project, head over to our dedicated academic resources.
